What's baptism all about? It's no secret that, here at 2Rivers, we are all about seeing people become passionate followers of Jesus. We believe Jesus offers us new life and it's simply and incredibly a free gift he offers to us by his death on a cross. That's the good news we get to experience and share with others!
Now, baptism itself is a defining step in our journey, which let's us publicly declare that we are a follower of Jesus and have accepted his freely given offer of grace. This grace means he will no longer count our sins against us and he will give us a new freedom and life in relationship with the God of the universe. If you want to go deeper on understanding Baptism and salvation, Pastor Ron gave a great message outlining it. Click here to check it out! |

How do I know it's time to be baptized? The decision to be baptized necessitates three things. For one, it involves faith. We need to place our faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior and the Lord of our lives. We believe that we are saved by his grace alone and not by anything we do, and we acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God. He is also the Lord of our lives and deserves our obedience as such. Baptism also involves repentance. This means that we are examining our lives and choosing to do a 180-degree turn from anything that isn’t honoring to God. Baptism also requires a confession of our faith; we will publicly acknowledge that we believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. This is important because we are inviting support and accountability into our lives from the church as we make this decision. Then lastly, we baptize. This is a symbol of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection that we participate in and remember each time we celebrate baptism together.

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father,
we too may live a new life.

Baptism Sunday FAQs!
Thinking about getting baptized or already signed up? That’s amazing! 🙌 We know you might have a few questions as you prepare for this big step, especially if you're hoping to invite friends or family to celebrate with you. Here’s everything you need to know to plan ahead and feel confident on Baptism Sunday.
⏰ What time should I arrive on Baptism Sunday?
Please arrive 30 minutes before your service time—8:00 AM for first service, 9:30 AM for second, and 11:00 AM for third. You'll check in by our overflow room near the coffee area, where you'll meet a staff member who will walk you through everything!
👕 What do I wear and bring?
We’ll provide a baptism t-shirt for you. Just bring:
- Dark shorts to wear with your shirt
- A beach towel
- A change of clothes
- Easy-on shoes for afterward
🕓 Can I pick the service time I’m baptized in?
When you sign up, you’ll get to select a first and second service preference (or let us know if you’re open to any). We do our best to honor your first choice, but sometimes we may need to place you in a different service to make space for everyone. Thanks for being flexible—we promise to make it meaningful no matter what!
🎉 Can I invite friends and family?
Absolutely--invite away! Baptism is a celebration, and we want your people to be part of it. Since service times might fill up, we recommend asking guests to keep their Sunday morning flexible if possible. You’ll get your confirmed service time the week of Baptism Sunday.
If you have specific time constraints or are hoping for a certain service, please reach out to us early. We can talk about options or help you register sooner to try and lock in your preferred time. While we can’t guarantee every request, we’ll do our best to accommodate and make this day special for you!
Also, please let your guests know that baptisms happen during the service—not before or after—so they’ll want to arrive early and be seated in the Worship Area before service begins.

📸 Will there be pictures?
Yes! We’ll have a photo backdrop for you to grab a quick pic before your baptism, and we’ll also share a digital photo album afterward so you can relive the moment and share it with others!
🎤 Can someone special in my faith journey baptize me?
Yes! While our staff usually lead baptisms, if someone has played a significant role in your faith story—like a mentor, small group leader, or family member—they can help baptize alongside our team. They won’t need to speak on stage, but we’ll guide them on what to do that day. Let us know on your form if that’s something you’d like!
🛑 What happens if I have more questions?
We’re here for you! Reach out anytime through our website or contact our office directly—we’ll walk with you every step of the way.
Do I need to be a member of 2Rivers to be baptized?
You don’t need to be an official member of 2Rivers to be baptized—but we’d love for you to be part of our church family. Baptism is a public declaration of your faith, and we believe it’s best experienced within a local community of believers who will walk with you, support you, and help you keep growing in your faith.
If you regularly attend 2Rivers or are considering making this your church home, we’d be honored to celebrate this step with you.
That said, if you’re currently following Jesus and your home church isn’t holding baptisms, we’re open to a conversation about you being baptized here. Reach out—we’d love to talk and help you take this next step in your faith journey!
